Advocacy: An Essential Endeavor on Our Journey to Excellence

Advocacy. It is defined as “the active support of an idea or cause, especially the act of pleading on behalf of another.”

Advocacy is a vital part of CHRISTUS Health’s mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. As a faith-based health system, CHRISTUS is committed to increasing access to health care for the poor and underserved through advocacy and other initiatives.

The attached brochure illustrates some of the many ways in which, through advocacy, CHRISTUS Health is keeping that commitment. Our advocacy efforts are not only helping improve the accessibility and quality of health in the communities we serve, but also influencing public policy at the state and national level and motivating others to act on behalf of those in greatest need.

Advocacy is an essential endeavor in CHRISTUS Health’s “Journey to Excellence,” the pursuit of higher achievements in community benefits, charity care, and clinical and service quality. We make that journey not solely by ourselves, but accompanied by those whom we serve in the name of Christ while inviting other individuals and organizations to journey with us and extend the benefits of excellence to all.
